What I do
The Body is not the house of the spirit, it is the spirit taken physical form.
-- Charles Eisenstein, "The Yoga of Eating"
I am passionate about overall health and committed to helping each one of my clients achieve the highest degree of wellness in all areas of their lives.
In my education as a Holistic Health Consultant, I have studied many mainstream diets as well as researched and personally tried a multitude of different healing techniques. My work with clients is based on the concept of bio-individuality: every person is unique, with their own set of likes, dislikes and triggers, their own body, their own goals and desires - and deserves to be treated as such.
My approach incorporates all aspects of life - from tomorrow morning's breakfast to long-term ambitions, from career to relationships to how to integrate more healthy choices in the day-to-day. As a Holistic Health Consultant, I suggest, recommend, guide, explore, offer support and give suggestions. Most importantly: I listen.
Listening is key to what I do. Because there is no one-size-fits-all secret to health, I work with each client to improve their eating habits and encourage them to start taking better care of themselves in ways that work within the framework of their unique lifestyle. My work can include sharing tips and recipes, conducting cooking demonstrations, tours of local stores and markets, exploring people's cupboards, recommending specific foods, introducing herbs and teas, and much more.
Instead of uniformly prescribing a way of eating, I tailor each program to the individual in a positive, non-judgmental way. Together, we set achievable goals and effect gradual, lasting change. I don't count calories or carbs. I don't believe in deprivation, or lists of "good" and "bad," "shoulds" and "shouldn'ts." Instead, I focus on empowerment, on interpreting the signals of the body and figuring out what it is that each person really needs in order to feel their best.
However, food is only one part of the work that I do. Nourishment is about so much more than what we put in our mouths; sometimes we are hungry for calories, while other times, our stomach rumbles with loneliness. On the best of days, joy and excitement will fill you up better than a filet mignon of a bowl of cereal ever could.
When was the last time you spoke to someone about your health?
And when was the last time you felt they actually listened?
I invite you to contact me for an initial health consultation. Together, we can explore new foods and new boundaries, investigate your cravings, find ways to increase your energy and productivity, and generally improve your quality of life.
